Raroa Stockyard Siding

Stock for the Wellington Abattoir was delivered to the Raroa Stockyard Siding. Road access to the Abattoir was from the Ngauranga Gorge.



Right  The Fraser Avenue road crossing, just south of the site of the Raroa Stockyard Siding (left of camera). The abattoir is in the gully. Beyond, approximately 150m below the railway line, is Wellington Harbour.

1960

Installation   I do not know the Stockyard siding installation and removal dates. The siding is not shown in the original 1938 S & I circular, but is shown in the next issue dated 1960. It is shown in a 1969 circular but had gone by 1977.

Working   The Raroa Sockyard siding was worked in accordance with Single Line Automatic Signalling Regulation No. 24.
